You will be responsible for supporting production processes for a range of high-precision optical components and assemblies. You will leverage your attention to detail, dexterity, and creativity to ensure that you deliver top quality work in an efficient manner. This hands-on role involves working with various machinery, tools, and equipment to manufacture, inspect, and characterize components and assemblies for application in some of the most demanding environments on the planet…and beyond. Operate and maintain manufacturing equipment, including, CNC machines, various specialized equipment. Develop new and apply current methods for shaping, grinding, blocking and polishing glass and other optical materials. Spheres, flats, prisms and free form components. Ability to fabricate to 1/10 of a wave with less than 10-5 scratch dig. Interpret customer prints accurately to understand requirements. Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to MIL specs and standards. Optical measuring using Zygo interferometer and other equipment. Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime, troubleshooting minor mechanical issues. Accurately complete and maintain production logs, inspection records, and other required computerized documentation.
