General description: Drives company truck, primarily packs products, moves material and delivers or picks up product so that customers receive their goods as promised. Loads and unloads truck and may use a fork truck or hand truck to move around goods within shop environment. Responsible for maintaining records in computer and in paper form. Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition and according to all applicable state and federal regulations. Turns in daily inspection sheets to Lead. Ensures cleanliness of interior and exterior of truck. Report any mechanical and cosmetic problems encountered with vehicles. Presents and receives packing slips for goods delivered or loaded. Load and unload trucks. Receives product into the plant. Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping documents, and deliver according to documents.
Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo in accordance with regulations. Uses GPS, read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions. Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to shop or other vehicles using telephone. Packs products for delivery, performs part marking and assists shipping department as needed. Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes, fork trucks or hand trucks. Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
